The Dalai Lama was born in Taktser, Qinghai in the year 1935. He was recognized as the 14th Dali Lama on the 17th of November, 1950, at the age of 15. He inherited control over a government controlling an area roughly corresponding to the Tibet just as the People’s Republic of China wished to reassert central control over it. After being the official political leader for 61 years he announced his retirement on the 10th of March, 2011. Many parties in this issue don’t agree with his decision to remove himself from the Tibet movement. After 5 decades of leading the Tibetan movement it is still not perfectly clear who will take over control of the Tibetan movement but it is believed that the spot will be filled by Karmapa Lama.

On the 14th of February Dalai Lama had resigned of his power during the speech of the 52nd anniversary of the failed 1959 Tibetan uprising against Chinese rule. This anniversary had drove Dalai Lama to his decision to retire this time, compared to the many other times that he had mentioned to fulfill but did not. This event had triggered him to make his decision. Dalai Lama had done this to plan to retake Tibet and restore the old feudal theocracy. The reaction of the Tibetans was that they were not ready to let go of the political lama and now Tibetans have no one to look up to.

Tibetan Buddhism Foods

Tibetans will never eat fish, the reason being is that to them, it is a sign of aggression. They also feel that it is unsanitary for them to eat for their own desires. Tibetan usually eat red meat instead of fish because it was generally better to eat, and the animal that was killed, generally, was very large. Their beliefs were that only one life had to be taken to feed many people if they ate red meat, but if they ate fish a lot more lives would have to be lost.
